Inspiration sometimes comes from the most ordinary things⦠š¤
My author bio, featured on this page and on the back cover of Roots and Wings, emphasizes that I enjoy people- and animal-watching and listening to what God might have to say about it.
Inspiration for the book came from exactly that. I donāt remember where I was or exactly when I saw it, but it was definitely a bird in the sky and a solitary thought, āI wonder where sheās going.ā Along with a heavy dose of, āI wish I could be that free.ā Soā¦
When that initial inspiration happens, itās anyoneās guess as to where it will go. Sometimes, it will end up in a completed story. Sometimes, the thought will wither away because I didnāt take the time to develop it. Honestly, thatās where they mostly end up. But sometimes, Iāll take the time to write it down and develop it. Although the full process can be maddening at times, it can also be magical. From beginning to end, Iām never absolutely certain where it will end up. The story and characters take on a life of their own. Itās as if I was just the conduit to set the story free.
I feel privileged to be the one to tell it; to be the one God chooses this way. š„°
Roots and Wings is such a short story, but now, after all is said and done and itās in this sweet book form, Iād like to pull apart the elements that make the story what it is. My plan for this blog is to write a short series to focus on the different elements of the story.
I hope youāll come along. š
